Not satisfied with having already won the Loro Piana Trophy earlier today, Dutchman Harrie Smolders came back into the magnificent Piazza di Siena arena again to clinch the honours in the Loro Piana Six-Bar at CSIO Rome - Masters d’Inzeo this evening.

Rounding up the perfect day, the world no. 1 rider was the only one of the 16 starters to leave all the poles in place over the four rounds of jumping with the 11-year-old mare Corrada. In the last round the final fence stood at a 16 massive 1.95m tall.

“In every round the difference between the height of the last fence and the rest of the jumps made it quite difficult, and Corrada has never seen a fence this high before - she was very brave!” he said. Italy’s Edoardo Fochi with Qaro Dan and Frederic David riding Saxo de la Roque shared second place with three clear rounds while three more Italian riders - Michael Christofoletti (Barnie Mancluf), Eugenio Grimaldi (Hurricaine van de Fruitkorf) and Luca Moneta (Neptune Brecourt) shared fourth place with two clear rounds each.
