The Italian Equestrian Sports Federation and the Ministry of Agriculture join forces to promote the retraining of thoroughbreds at the end of their racing career
During the CSIO in Piazza di Siena, an interesting project was presented about thoroughbreds at the end of their career, which will be synergically managed by the two entities that govern equestrian sports and horse breeding in Italy: the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Under this project, 12 thoroughbreds will leave the racetrack stables to be transferred to the Pratoni del Vivaro Federal Equestrian Centre where, under the guidance of FISE coaches, they will be retrained to start a new career in equestrian disciplines.
After six months, the horses will be assigned to riding schools where, as FISE President Marco Di Paola commented, "they will be able to delight also many of our young people at the start of their riding journey or to be used for therapeutic sessions in which they can play an extraordinary and protagonist role".
